Meet our Team

Chris Groom – Regional Director and Chair and Safeguarding Governor

Michael Davis – Headteacher & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

It gives me great pleasure to be the Headteacher of Red Kite School.

I have extensive and successful leadership experience in leading SEND and mainstream schools and I look forward to sharing these experiences with our young people.

My philosophy for education is to ensure everyone is treated and catered for as an individual, learning experiences are purposeful and progressive, and together – as a team – we create positive lasting memories in a safe and caring environment.

My interests include sports, nature, reading and board games – especially Scrabble!

I am approachable, a good listener and keen to hear your perspective on what is working well and what could be improved. If you have any ideas or suggestions, no matter how small, please feel free to speak with me or a member of the team.

Simon Wallace – Deputy Headteacher, Quality of Education

As the Deputy Headteacher I will be focusing on Quality of Education and I am thrilled to be in such a dedicated and nurturing community at Red Kite. I have a firm belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and I am committed to delivering a broad, ambitious curriculum that fosters a lifelong love of learning. Our aim is to ensure that all students, regardless of their starting point, are
given the tools, support, and inspiration they need to succeed. I’m excited to build on the school’s strengths and work with staff, families and students to secure excellent outcomes for every student at Red Kite.

Relationships and communication are key in a successful school, so please do call, email or arrange a visit if you’d like to know more.

Lucy Metcalfe- Assistant Headteacher, Behaviour & Attitudes & Personal Development / Interim SENCO

I am a creative and flexible leader who enjoys working with young people. I have been a teacher since 1998 and taught a range of subjects including Media, Expressive Arts, English, Business Studies, Geography and Home Cooking. I have gained the NASENCO and NPQSL awards and worked hard to develop my practice in a variety of settings. As SENDCO I was responsible for supporting large teams and developing the provision for our young people. This included leading on residential activities and ensuring support was timely and effective in school.

Outside of school, I am involved in my local community garden and enjoy travelling and the cinema. I am hardworking and determined to succeed, tenacious and empathetic. I enjoy coaching and mentoring and pride myself on having a positive mindset even when working in challenging situations. I love animals and have a dog and a cat. I also enjoy swimming and spending time exploring with my family and friends.

Victoria Margan  – Designated Safeguarding Lead

I began my career as a  teacher, working in mainstream education for 16 years. During this time, I developed a deep passion for safeguarding and supporting children and their families, which led me to retrain as a children’s social worker. This role allowed me to work closely with families during challenging times, providing vital support and guidance. I was therefore delighted to bring together my experience in both education and social care when stepping into my role as Designated Safeguarding Lead and Family Liaison Officer at Red Kite School.

Here, I am committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where every student feels valued and empowered to thrive. With a deep passion for supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, I am committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. At Red Kite I work closely with our dedicated team to ensure that every student receives the individualized support they need to thrive—both academically and personally. Understanding that each child’s journey is unique, I take a compassionate and holistic approach, helping students build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills. My goal is to foster a sense of belonging and empowerment, equipping our students with the tools they need to succeed in education and beyond.

I am proud to be part of a school that values inclusivity, creativity, and personal growth, and I look forward to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

Fiona Titmas – Pastoral Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Working as a Pastoral Lead at Red Kite School is a rewarding role. I enjoy providing support to our students; helping them navigate their academic and personal challenges and help to create a nurturing and structured environment where students feel safe and supported. Building positive relationships with students at Red Kite School is key, as it encourages trust and creates opportunities for personal growth. With consistent support we promote the well-being of each student, striving to make a lasting impact on their lives both in and outside the classroom.

I firmly believe in the power of a personalised education, as each child has individual strengths, weaknesses and learning styles. I am proud to be part of Red Kite School where students are seen as individuals and their individual needs are met.

My goal is to make a positive impact on students’ lives, by fostering their learning and growth according to their individual needs. I have always had a passion for education and believe that every child deserves a nurturing and supportive environment in order to thrive, both academically and emotionally.

 Corale Bogle-Virtue – Clinical Lead

I am a Systemic and Family Psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in forensic child psychology and law, specialising in supporting children and young people who have experienced significant adversity. I was formerly a Social Work Manager.

Across my career, my practice has been grounded in trauma‑informed principles and shaped by a systemic understanding of behaviour, relationships, and context. I recognise that behaviour is a form of communication, often rooted in disrupted attachments, adversity, or complex relational trauma. My focus is on creating psychologically safe, structured, and attuned environments where young people feel understood, supported, and able to thrive.

Joining Red Kite School allows me to draw on my clinical background, social care experience, and leadership expertise to bridge trauma‑informed thinking with whole‑school strategy. I am particularly passionate about strengthening staff confidence in responding to dysregulation, relational ruptures, and high‑risk behaviours in ways that promote regulation, repair, and resilience.

I am committed to working collaboratively with staff, families, and multi‑agency partners to:

  • Embed trauma‑informed and relational approaches across the school
  • Support staff to understand behaviour through an attachment‑aware and systemic lens
  • Provide consultation and reflective spaces to reduce burnout and strengthen practice
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions tailored to the developmental and emotional needs of pupils, aligned with their EHCPs
  • Strengthen safeguarding awareness and promote systemic, evidence-informed risk formulation

My Christian faith and personal values underpin my commitment to dignity, compassion, and service. My clinical work remains rooted in evidence-based practice, ethical principles, and a focus on meaningful impact. At the heart of my approach is a simple belief:

“When schools become relationally safe and trauma‑informed communities, young people with SEMH needs can begin to experience stability, belonging, and hope.”
